Quechee Gorge

The natural beauty of the Lebanon Hanover New Hampshire area is spectacular

This is a natural gorge with the Ottauquechee River flowing though it. It is a natural scenic area halfway between Hanover, New Hampshire and Woodstock, Vermont.  It is a nice place to stop as you travel to the very scenic town of Woodstock.  Some have called Woodstock one of America’s prettiest villages.

Right in the area around the gorge is the Quechee Gorge Village (www.quecheegorge.com), a great place to pick up native Vermont products, the Quechee Inn at Marshland Farms (www.quecheeinn.com) with 18 km of hiking trails and snow shoeing and cross country skiing in the winter and the VINS Raptor Center (www.vinsweb.org) (noted above).

Crystal Lake
Mascoma Lake in Enfield New Hampshire is a beautiful place with many things to do and see.

Mascoma Lake, Goose Pond and Crystal Lake  and Canaan Street Lake are all in the area.  Each is very scenic and only a short drive from Hanover and Lebanon, NH.  There are numerous summer activities with two public boat launches, fishing, swimming at the town beach and the Shaker Village and Museum on the lake shore. The lake is even used in the winter for ice fishing.

Skiing
There is skiing near to the Hanover Lebanon Enfield NH area.

There are some great ski areas within an easy drive from the Upper Valley.  Killington, the largest ski area in the East, with 87 miles of trails on seven mountains has something for everyone and it is less than one hour away.

There are others even closer.  The area is a great place for your primary home or that second home get-away.

White Water

The Mascoma River runs right through Lebanon New Hampshire

There are many places to go white water kayaking in the area.  A river close at hand is the Mascoma River.  The river is a Class II-III but can sometimes feel like a Class IV in certain sections and at certain times.

We, at Moose Mountain Realty are not experts in White Water kayaking but we can help you get connected with those that are, including a world famous kayak paddles manufacturer in North Canaan, New Hampshire.

We will help make your home purchase experience be beyond what the norm is for real estate agents.  Ask us about anything related to your purchase of real estate in the Hanover, Lebanon, Enfield, Grafton and Canaan New Hampshire areas.

The Connecticut River Upper Valley

Connecticut River - Hanover, NH

You may share the Connecticut River in the Upper Valley not only with canoeists and kayakers but also with the Dartmouth College crew team. Boaters with an eye for beauty can appreciate the foresight of Dartmouth alumni who purchased and preserved the Pine Park area just north of the college's boat house.

The Ledyard bridge, which carries the Appalachian Trail - and other traffic - between Hanover and Norwich, is the fifth bridge on this site, replacing a series of covered and later concrete bridges.

There is a 1000' no-wake zone upstream from the Ledyard Bridge. Keep an eye out for swimmers.

Hiking
To reach the hiking in the Canaan Enfield Hanover and Lebanon NH area is a very short drive and it is a very nice hike.

Hiking in the area is all around us.  The White Mountains with the highest peak in the east, Mount Washington, are close enough for day trips and right in the community is Cardigan Mountain at 3,121 feet and has an exposed granite summit affording 360 degree views. This is a fun day-hike for the entire family.

Mount Cardigan

These are just a sample of the many fun and interesting things to do in the area.  We would like to tell you even more about the attractions and activities of the Enfield, Hanover and Lebanon, New Hampshire and the villages and areas that are close by.
